Our Story
Transparency Somalia Initiative (TSI) was established by a determined, cross-sector group of Somali volunteers, all united by the unwavering belief that absolute integrity is the bedrock and foundation of a prosperous and stable Somalia
For too long, Somalia’s governance narrative has been defined by opacity. We observed firsthand how a lack of transparency didn’t merely impede progress—it actively undermined every effort toward lasting peace and sustainable economic development, effectively denying citizens their future. This organization was established to fundamentally shift that paradigm, rooting our nation’s progress in a bedrock of open, accountable, and honest governance.
From Idea to Impact
Our journey began with a fundamental question: How do we empower the Somali people to demand accountability?
We recognised that the only way to combat the shadow economy was to shine a bright, undeniable light on it. We didn’t wait for the political winds to shift; we started building the tools ourselves.

The result was a commitment to:
Advocacy: Fearlessly speaking truth to power and pushing for landmark anti-corruption legislation.
Empowerment: Creating user-friendly platforms that allow citizens to monitor government projects and track funds.
Reform: Collaborating with both the public and private sectors to establish systems of ethical governance.
Today, the Somali Transparency Society stands as a testament to the power of a unified vision. We are more than an organization; we are a movement committed to rewriting Somalia’s narrative—from fragility to accountability.
Join us as we continue to build a future where every dollar spent, every decision made, and every law passed is visible, verifiable, and serves the Somali people first.
