Mogadishu, Somalia — 11 April 2026
The Transparency Somalia Initiative (TSI) participated in a Fiduciary Oversight Capacity Building Workshop convened by the World Bank Group’s Integrity Vice Presidency (INT), as part of ongoing efforts to enhance transparency, accountability, and sound management of public resources in Somalia.
The workshop, held virtually from 7–9 April 2026, focused on combating fraud and corruption in World Bank-financed projects. TSI took part in the civil society session held on 8 April, alongside representatives of Somali civil society organizations.
Enhancing Institutional Capacity and Oversight
The civil society session was opened by the World Bank Country Manager for Somalia, Hideki Matsunaga, and Marcelo Donolo, Manager for INT Prevention and Knowledge Management. The opening remarks highlighted the importance of strengthened collaboration between international partners and national stakeholders in promoting integrity, transparency, and effective oversight mechanisms.
The workshop delivered a series of technical sessions aimed at reinforcing participants’ understanding of fiduciary risk management frameworks.
Supporting Institutional Development
TSI’s participation in this workshop reflects its continued efforts to enhance its technical capacity and align its oversight practices with internationally recognized standards. This engagement further contributes to TSI’s institutional development as it progresses toward formal integration within the global transparency framework.
Way Forward
The knowledge and insights acquired through this engagement will be integrated into TSI’s ongoing governance and parliamentary oversight initiatives. As Somalia continues to advance its reform agenda, TSI remains committed to supporting efforts aimed at strengthening institutional integrity, promoting accountability, and fostering public trust.
