Mogadishu, February 11, 2026

“Corruption is not inevitable, but the absence of courageous leadership makes it feel that way.”

Yesterday, February 10, 2026, Transparency International released the 31st edition of the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI). The results for Somalia are a sobering reminder of the work that lies ahead. Scoring just 9 out of 100, Somalia remains tied at the bottom of the global index, signaling a persistent “Accountability Gap” that threatens our national security and economic recovery.

The Transparency Somalia Initiative (TSI) has conducted a deep-dive analysis of these findings. Our latest report, Transparency in Action, goes beyond the numbers to provide a roadmap for reform, institutional empowerment, and the protection of our civic space.

Key Insights from the Report:
  • The Global Context: For the first time in over a decade, the global CPI average has dropped to 42, with even established democracies seeing a decline in integrity.

  • Somalia’s Stagnation: A detailed look at why our score has remained unchanged and the institutional “oversight vacuum” fueling this cycle.

  • Regional Comparison: How Somalia compares to regional leaders like the Seychelles (68) and Rwanda (58).

  • Strategic Roadmap: Five actionable recommendations for the Federal Government to foster transparency in 2026.
